Giving back is at the heart of what we do. We encourage our team to give back by volunteering their time to a number of community not-for-profit organisations in the regions that we live and work in.
If you’re a not-for-profit organisation or community group looking for volunteers, this could be an excellent opportunity for us to work together!
Staff volunteering initiatives
MS Swimathon
Teams made an absolute splash in the Rockhampton Memorial Aquatic Centre, swimming over 4300 laps!! Out of the pool, they made an ever bigger splash, smashing their fundraising goal with an INCREDIBLE $21,328 raised.
Moolah’s Minions were the highest fundraising team for this event, raising a massive $6,101. The Capricornian’s Operations Manager received a ‘Lane of Fame’ award, acknowledging outstanding dedication and support, and he was the 2nd highest individual fundraiser for 2021.
The money raised will make a positive impact for local people living with MS.
7 Rocky River Run
Off the back of our successful volunteering for the Fitzroy Frogs Triathlon, we were invited to volunteer at the 7Rocky River Run.
A number of our wonderful staff and children gave up their Sunday morning sleep-in to help keep the athletes hydrated and offer words of encouragement during the course.
The event organisers were very thankful for our attendance and have invited to us to be involved again next year.
Following on from our hydrating duties, staff dusted off their runners and headed out on the 2km and 5km courses respectively.
Community Games
The annual Capricornian Community Games is a day of fun and friendly competition, with teams participating in dodgeball, netball, volleyball, indoor soccer and bocce, whilst fundraising for The MS Swimathon – QLD.
We are pleased to report that an incredible $2,300 was raised for charity.
Congratulations to the 2022 winners of the day, Dawson Road Butchery (for the third consecutive year)! In second place Take Down and in third place Clueless Crew; who also took out best dressed! Special mention to Let’s Get Fiscal (Kennas Chartered Accountants and Financial Services) for their 80’s inspired outfits!!
2022 Yeppoon Triathlon Festival
And that’s a wrap for the 2022 Yeppoon Triathlon Festival! Our staff thoroughly enjoyed cheering on all the athletes throughout the event, and provided words of encouragement to participants as they passed by the water station.

Adopt A Family Appeal – Anglicare Central QLD
For most of us Christmas is a time of joy, love, gifts and quality time with family. However, each year there are many families in our community who are experiencing financial hardship or difficulty.
The annual Adopt-A-Family Appeal brightens the lives of local families facing adversity at Christmas time. In the spirit of Christmas, the staff at The Capricornian enjoying volunteering time to this cause, and have been supporting Adopt-A-Family since its inception.
A big thank you to our staff for donating gifts, items or their time to Adopt-A-Family.
2022 Rockhampton Agricultural Show
The 2022 Rockhampton Agricultural Show took place in June and did not disappoint, with over 30,000 visitors walking through the gates.
The Capricornian secured two Sponsorship opportunities, supporting the Show Volunteers for a second year in a row, as well as the Community Stage.
As the only locally owned financial institution in CQ, The Capricornian naturally jumped at the chance to sponsor the Community Stage. This allowed us to host an array of performances and workshops for the kids for the duration of the Show.
