Building and Contents Insurance Disclaimers – What you need to know

1 CGU don’t cover actions of the sea, such as tides and waves.
2 If you have Contents Insurance, and you’re renting the home (a tenant), CGU pays the reasonable extra rent costs for temporary accommodation. If you own and live in your home (and it’s part of a strata or similar scheme),CGU cover the reasonable costs of temporary accommodation. If you have Building Insurance with CGU Insurance, and you own and live in your home, CGU covers the costs for temporary accommodation that CGU agrees are reasonable and appropriate for you. Additional limits, exclusions and conditions apply.
3 Cover applies if the incident happens at your home (under Building insurance), and away from your home but still in Australia (under Contents insurance).
4 CGU doesn’t cover fishing equipment, sporting equipment, musical instruments or firearms while they’re in use.
5 CGU cover motors for up to 15 years after they were made, provided they are not covered by a warranty or used in your business.
6 Portable items are covered for loss, theft and accidental damage. Cover is up to $10,000 for each item unless you list it separately for more. There are other limits for items taken outside Australia or New Zealand, check the PDS. CGU don’t cover scratches and dents or items being cleaned or repaired. Portable Contents: These are items that you or your family can take outside of your home. Coverage for these items is only available if you choose Portable contents as an optional benefit.

General contents held in storage can be covered under Home Insurance policy if you inform CGU before moving your items into storage and if CGU’s acceptance criteria are met.
